(少なくとも2.0系でいうところの)WebService APIはいわゆるWebServiceの規格に沿ったものではなく，単に専用プロトコルでリモートアクセスするための手段のようだ．SOAPやRESTとも関係なし．

**Description: Java library for controlling Phidgets from Java. This is a network library - the PC with the phidgets attached must be running the PhidgetWebService.
**2.1系ではWebServiceにアクセスするPure Java implementationが存在しない(JNIを利用)ようなので，Phidgetsライブラリをインストールすることが簡単ではないようなプラットフォーム(FreeBSDなど)上でWebService経由でPhidgetsにアクセスするプログラムを書く場合は2.0系のこのライブラリが必要となると思われる．
**また，2.1系ではWebService APIが変わっているかもしれないのでWebServiceサーバを稼働させるプラットフォームのライブラリのバージョンも2.0にしておいたほうがいいかもしれない．
